Why R4R Leaders are so important?

It’s simple - without you, there can't be a Run4Rene community! R4R leaders are essential in growing the community and help to provide a safe space for people to look after their physical and mental health.

What does it involve?

  • Weekly hourly commitment

  • Passion for supporting community

  • Marketing your group in the community

  • Belief in the power of running for mind and body

  • Compassion, kindness, leadership…and fun!

Leadership

You’ll be a key member of the R4R community, welcoming and encouraging members. The R4R leader sets everyone off for the run, making sure no one is running alone and they help to explain and promote the ethos of the group.

Provide support

The R4R leader is the main point of contact to raise any concerns or to help signpost people. Leaders are not expected to be therapists or be trained medical professionals but rather help to listen and signpost people to sources of support.

Promotion

You’ll promote your group in your local area with our support using social media, online directories and flyers. You’ll organise a group picture with everyone’s consent to share with the R4R community.

What can you expect from us?

  • Promotional or marketing reimbursement

  • Mental health first-aid training (UK only)

  • Free R4R running vest

  • Supportive network of other run leaders

Buddy system

R4R leaders will have a ‘buddy’ system where they can choose to speak to another run leader for support. R4R leaders will have space to review how their groups are doing with other leaders and discuss ideas on how to grow.

Mental health first-aid training (UK)

The charity aims to arrange and pay for some MHFA mental health training after a few months of their commitment.

“Being a Run Leader has enabled me to channel grief into something positive. Having a support network around you and supporting others through Run4Rene has had a profound impact on my wellbeing and enabled me to meet some incredibly special people, whom perhaps I would not have interacted with otherwise. We're all united by the desire to give back to our community, meet new people and work towards improving everyone's mental health.”

— Zany, Finsbury Park Leader
